Afton Dykman Afton Elvilah Irving Dykman, 63, passed away at her home Monday, July 7, 2003. She was born Aug. 21, 1939, in Hood River, Ore., to William F. and Afton Delilah Jensen Irving. She was educated in Pocatello attending Washington Elementary, Franklin Jr. High and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1957. She spent the summers in Oregon with her family. Afton married Keith Dykman, and they were married for 24 years and later divorced. Afton was the mother of four children: Ron, Reid, Connie and Karin. Afton worked for 37 years for I.S.U. as the director of the Instructional Materials Center. Afton was a member of the Golden Girls along with Ellen, Karen, Jocelyn, Marcia, Sharon Rosalee, Nancy, and Charlotte who is deceased. Afton was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Afton enjoyed collecting dolls, antique shopping, sewing, spending time at her retreat in Island Park, but especially enjoying her children and grandchildren. Afton was fun loving, giving, crafty, and had a dry wit. Afton is survived by her children: Ron (Shauna) Dykman, Pocatello, Idaho, Reid (Cathy) Dykman, Spokane, Wash., Connie (Preston) Brower, and Karin (Vince) Fay, all of Pocatello, Idaho; grandchildren: Treisha and Brittney Dykman, Weston Dykman, Kelly Hall, Sean, Brady, and Nolan Fay; brothers: LaMont and (Genevieve) Irving, Cascade Locks, Ore., Seth (Jane) Taylor, Emmett, Idaho, David R. (Jan Carpenter) Walker, Pocatello, Jerald D. (Ranae) Walker, Idaho Falls, Idaho; sisters: Lois Harrison, Pocatello; Patricia (Ralph) Hesgard and Martena Pennington, Cascade Locks; and her dog, Skippy Ray. Afton was preceded in death by her parents, William and Afton Irving. Her parents from Pocatello, Raymond and Elvilah Walker, three brothers, Babe, Pete and Pee Wee; two grandsons, Cameron and Connor Dykman. Funeral services were July 11 at Colonial Funeral Chapel, 2005 S. 4th Ave., Pocatello with Laren Noble officiating. The viewing was July 10 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial followed at Mountainview Cemetery.
