- 'Isileli Lolo Tuiaki wrote his own history. I was born on August 3, 1927. ( At present Brother Tuiaki was a Bishop of Matahau in Tongatapu). Notes was taken on March 25, 1976. I was born at Faleloa, Ha'apai in a little hut of Siosifa Vaitohi located at the front-village of Faleloa at Halaliku . My parents were Tevita Tuiaki and Lesieli Tonga. There were 12 children in my family. There were 5 girls and 7 boys and I was number 2 of the boys. I was baptized in the Tongan Royal Church on October 3 1927. I attended Government Primary School when I was 9th year old, I attended Government Primary School of Faleloa on January 29, 1936 and my teacher was Mele Taufa. On 1939, I was in the 3rd grade and my teacher was Vaha'i Tonga who was the Patriach for the Nuku'alofa Tonga Hihifo Stake. I was chosen to be a prefect in that grade in GPS school. I was not really academacilly inclined but I was well built physically and strong and I was trusted by the Principal of that school so he assigned me to supervise the other kids because my physical strength showed stronger than most kids. I dropped out from school when I was 4th grade in 1940 and the Principal Sosaia Tupou beggged me to come back to school but I dropped out with my friends and started to work in our family plantation. I loved to eat fish and loved to go fishing just like my dad and I liked to go dive for this spceal Pose fish between at the island of Nukunamo between Faleloa and Fakakai. So my dad tried to get me out from going to the ocean to do something better. So in 1945, my dad sent me to our church conference in Tongatapu. I stayed at Tevita Tea home.. and later on I went and stayed in Nautoka with Sake and Nganga. In August 1947, my dad came and took me home to Ha'apai. In October 1947, I went to a missionary fellowship of the Mormon church at Faleloa street. The Preacher was Piliote Konai'i and his talked was on baptism. After the preaching, my mind was pondered about the contents of the meeting and we went with my friends and just sat and talked outside the Tongan Church Chapel while they were singing inside in their choir practice . All of a sudden, there were shouting and people came rushing out of the chapel.. ...saying.."Hold that man before he killed the poor guy " I heard what had been said and I went inside and helped the poor guy up from the floor; he was all beaten up and on his face its all bruised and all bloody on his mouth too. While I was holding the victim in my arms trying to help him; the guy who beated this poor boy came and said to me; "Lolo do not touch him or I will kill you"...at that instant...I turned around and did exactly what he did to the boy in my arms.... ..the only thing that stopped me was my friends..crying saying; "Lolo, please stop it before he died and the government was going to hang you. So the next day, the guy from Nomuka whose name was Sione Kaeua and he was feared by everyone in that village left town to go back to Nomuka his hometown. I was held by Piliote Konai'i to go with him to his house...so I let him taught me the gospel. The way I was converted to the True church of Jesus Christ was a matter of taking turns in working in a Kautaha...so today is my turn to work for me and tomorrow is Piliote turn to do work for him...but I told Piliote..on my day of work...I just want you to teach me the gospel..and thats how I learned fast about the gospel. So I was baptized to he Church on November 21, 1947 in Pangai by Piliote Konai'i. Sione Filipe laid his hands and gave me the Holy Ghost. I was called to be in charge of the Sports in Ha'apai because the leaders knew that I had a special interest in sports and my nature was to be happy. I was called by branch president of Faleloa; Piliote Konai'i to do the visiting teaching with Moleni Fonua in Faleloa. In December 1948, Vili Fetu'u was the Ha'apai district leader called me to be a Building missionary for Liahona High School. So I travelled to Tongatapu in February 22, 1949 in the Fetu'u Moala boat and I almost die vomitting while travelling on this boat. The Skipper was Tolati Fifita. But I managed to get to Liahona...I was the first one to get the cement mixed for the building of Liahona High School. The engineer was Sione Langi and the driver was Hiliate and others who had helped in making the cement for the building of Liahona High School. But there were other students that helped in making the bricks from the cement and other closeby viliges..and we always went to visit the closeby villages and in Matahau I found my wife Tangivale Konai'i whose father was Tevita Konai'i. We married on February 7, 1949. Mr. Flint taught us how to mix cement in a hand-control machine and I was the first one to mix the cement to layout the bricks for the building of Liahona High School.. Sione Makaafi came from Vava'u to help with the cement work..and I was assigned to the Carpentry work with Sione Taufa and Paula Malupo. On March 5, 1950 I was in charge of the building of Liahona and was called to be the Branch President in Veitongo by Mr. 'Emili. So he counselled me..."Lolo ,work at Liahona during the day and at night do your missionary at your calling. So I worked with Filiiku Pututau so we both worked days at Liahona and do missionary work at night.. So on January 7, 1952, I was transferred to 'Eua and continue on the missionary work at 'Ohonua. On August 8, 1952, I was transferred to Faleloa continue on the missionary work and their branch president. So in 1955, president Stone called me back to Liahona to finish the building of Liahona. They assigned me to be in charge of the Cafeteria..and the feeding of the working and building missionary...and there were 20 of them that helped and I was one of them. In 1958, I was called to be a missionary at Ha'akio in Vava'u. But Mr. Orsen, the Principal of Liahona wanted me to be a policeman at LIahona. Then I was doing that in February and March and then went back to Vava'u later to do the missionary work as Brother Stone had said in 1958 to 1960. Mapa Va'enuku took my place as a policeman. In August 1960, I returned home to Matahau, my mission was done and we have 7 children.. and I was called again to be a policeman at Liahona while Lindsay was Principal. So I took that job...and I was called to be a branch president in Matahau in 1960 to replace brother Va'enuku. In July 26, 1970 the Tongan Stake was organized and I was called to be the first bishop to Matahau Ward. I was ordained by Howard W. Hunter to this calling and I had the opportunity to travel to Salt Lake City. I went to seal my wife Tangivale, and our child that died. so Tangiteina proxy for my wife and Pita Kinikini; her husband proxy for our child Sione Vailea Lolo. This trip to Salt Lake was the first time I ever flew in an airplane. I was a bishop for Matahau from 1970 to July 31 1973 and then I was called to be 1st counselor for the Stake Presidency. Tonga Paletu'a was the Stake President at the time. Then the Presidency was changed and Vaikalafi Lutui was president and I was a high counselor. I was assigned by President Lutui to work with the Fahefa Ward. Then I was again had the oportunity to travel to Salt Lake city in October 4th 1974 the second time. I worked in the Stake until 1974, and I was a high counsel. I went to Salt Lake in October 4, 1974 with my second wife Salote and sealed her in the Salt Lake Temple. In 1975, we went again to the Salt Lake Temple to seal all my 13 children with Malakai, my oldest son with his girl friend who was his wife now to be married in the temple. I had 10 children with Tangivale. President Lutui had assigned me to move to Kanokupolu in December so that the Church would be established there. So with Sifa Fie'eiki as Branch President of Kanokupolu, we worked together to established the church there in January 1976. In February first Sunday 1976,I was called again to be the Bishop of Matahau. I was involved in preparing the Stage for the Prophets, Apostles that came to the first time a General district conference held here in Liahona, Tonga. I had 10 children with my first wife, there were 4 boys and 6 girls. (he recited his kids)..but I have them in the family group sheet. My wife Tangivale died of high fever and was buried on October 28, 1964 my first loving wife. and was buried at Ha'ato'a at Matahau. I got married again on June 20, 1965 with Salote Manumei Pulotu Tovo and we have 6 children. There were 2 boys and 4 girls. The oldest was Peiholani; born in May 16, 1966, and Linilei 'Alukaefoki in February 23, 1968, and Illinois Karen in February 27, 1969, and Fakaofo Lalua in January 1, 1971, and Dan Kumi in March 12, 1973 and Lahiahapi in February 26, 1975. Then he recited his own family; his siblings.as it showed on the family group sheet which its not necessary to repeat those again...........................By Sister Tongilava...2008
